Julio Miranda Alban honored with Program Award in Developmental Biology

Julio Miranda Alban, Development Regeneration, and Stem Cell Biology PhD, graduated in 2025 and was nominated for the Best Dissertation Award in the Biological Sciences Division for his dissertation, Spatiotemporal Tuning of Notch Signaling During Development. Under the guidance of Dr. Ilaria Rebay, Julio’s work explored how dynamic regulation of the Notch signaling pathway shapes developmental outcomes, offering important insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying tissue formation and regeneration.

In recognition of his academic excellence and research contributions, Julio also received the Program Award for Outstanding Performance in the General Field of Development, Regeneration, and Stem Cell Biology.

He is continuing his research as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Chicago, where he is further investigating the molecular circuitry of cell fate specification in developmental contexts.
